PLANNING AREA The planning area was defined to consist of the unincorporated county, four (4) incorporated jurisdictions (i.e., cities and towns), and 11 special districts (i.e., school districts, fire districts, public utility districts, higher education) within the geographical boundary of Kittitas County. All partners to this Plan have jurisdictional authority within this planning area. All incorporated jurisdictions were invited to participate in the planning process; however, the City of Kittitas opted to not participate in this Hazard Mitigation Plan. Therefore, the City of Kittitas is not included as a participating jurisdiction in this Plan. However, for Countywide interest and statistical purposes, some of the City of Kittitas demographics and hazard-related data are included in this Plan. The intent of this inclusion is to create a more informative plan regarding the hazards, risks, and vulnerabilitie s across all of Kittitas County. 1.4. PARTICIPATING JURISDICTIONS The participating jurisdictions (i.e., cities, towns, and special districts) listed in Table 1-1 were represented by one (1) or more representatives. Responsibilities for each of the participating jurisdiction’s representatives included the following: • Assist with gathering the appropriate data and historical information. • Complete the community preparedness survey. • Participate in their jurisdiction’s hazard analysis. • Update existing mitigation actions. • Identify new mitigation actions. • Participate in workshops, hazard mitigation meetings, and webinars. • Review draft documents, as necessary. Contact information for each of the representatives and documentation of participation in the Plan update are available in Appendix B. The County also invited key organizations to assist and review the Plan update process; supporting documentation is available in Appendix C.
