KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA SESSION DATE: July 15, 2025 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids and <br />advertise for the Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements <br />Phase 1 Project, CRP 318-23. <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County was selected to receive funding through <br />the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). The <br />grant funding provides the County a cost-effective <br />approach to implement safety improvements such as <br />guardrail, signing and delineation to improve this <br />corridor. <br />INTERACTION: <br />This Contract provides for the improvement of <br />Huntzinger Road, including installation of guardrail at <br />identified hazard locations, installation of flexible guide <br />posts to improve delineation, and installation of <br />improved signage. The engineering and design for the <br />project has been performed by County staff. <br />Construction is expected to begin in October 2025, and <br />take up to 95 working days to complete. <br />This project is eligible for 100% reimbursement through <br />the HSIP Grant. The engineers estimated range for the <br />project is $1,480,000.00 to $1,660,000.00. <br />Bids are scheduled to be received on August 7, 2025, at <br />1 Oam at the Public Works office. <br />Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Notice of Call for Sealed Bids and <br />Advertise as requested for the Huntzinger Road Safety <br />Improvements Phase 1 Project, CRP 318-23. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Call for Sealed Bids. <br />LEAD STAFF: Cameron Curtis, County Engineer <br />
