COMMISSIONER WRIGHT asked if the comprehensive plan could drive
future public acquisitions, because this is something that the
county has dealt with over the last ten years with significant
public acquisitions that have taken private land holdings and
put them into public ownership. He stated that this has been a
challenge for this county as it has a significant impact on land
use decisions and land use opportunities . It would be beneficial
to develop a policy on how to handle future land acquisitions
within the framework of our outreach to the public.
COMMISSIONER OSAIDACZ suggested for the public presentations to
have a map of Kittitas County with the areas that we don' t have
control over colored in red and green for the areas that are
being talked about for population growth. COMMISSIONER HINKLE
asked to tie in future tax revenue streams from some of these
lands to help address some of the constraints of the budget .
CLAY WHITE stated we want to find out what makes Kittitas County
a great place to live and then protect those things . He also
mentioned we need to look at where we see opportunities to
strengthen our community and figure out what the steps are to
accomplish that . These will be the key questions that will help
drive what we are going to focus our time on. Clay White stated
that we will be starting the community meetings and the open
houses in May and if there are any questions or suggestions to
reach out .
The Board of County Commissioners left the meeting room.
VICE-CHAIR PEARSON called for a five-minute break. The meeting
was paused at 7 : 35 PM and reconvened at 7 : 40 PM.
B. CONSIDER FINDINGS OF FACT FOR CP-24-00001 LEWINGTON
PLANNING MANAGER JAMEY AYLING presented the findings of fact for
CP-24-00001 Lewington. He stated that this item will go before
the Board of County Commissioners on March 18th at 2 : 00 PM for a
public hearing.
COMMISSIONER DENEEN moved to accept the Findings of Fact as
presented. COMMISSIONER HINKLE seconded. Discussion - none .
Motion passed 6-0 .
OLD BUSINESS
There was no old business .
OTHER BUSINESS - No Action to be taken
2025-3-11 MINUTES 5
