Ryegrass Limited Purpose Landfill and BaleMl Closed Land%U,
Groundwater and Leachate Sampling and Analysis Plan
Icautly C.=ry S-04d Waste
Table G provides guidelines for minimum QA/QC samples for field sampling and laboratory analysis of
water samples,
2.6.1 Field
Field QA/QC includes proper documentation of field activities and sampling/handiing procedures, as
described in Section 3.5.
Field QA/QC samples will consist of the following.
■ One duplicate per sampling round
■ One trip blank (analysis for VOCs) per sampling round
2,6J.1 >Duplleates and Split SampleS
A minimum of one field duplicate will be analyzed per 20 samples or one per sampling event
(whichever is greater) to verify the precision of laboratory and/or sampling methodology. The field
duplicate will be collected at one selected groundwater location and will be tested for all parameters.
The duplicate sample will be collected using the same procedures as for the corresponding sample
and will be field filtered for dissolved metals using the same tubing and filter.
Duplicates are used to confirm analytical results from a given sample point. Dupiioate samples are
collected in the field using a matching set of laboratory -supplied bottles and sampling from the
selected well, as requested. Each duplicate should be sampled by alternating between the regular
and the duplicate sample bottles, proceeding in the designated sampling order (VOCs first, followed
by TPH, Inorganics and metals, see SOP in Appendix B). The well where the duplicate is collected
must be Identified an the field sampling data sheet. All duplicates shall be blind -labeled (see Section
3.5,2). Once a duplicate is collected, it is handled and submitted In the same manner as the rest of
the samples. Duplicate samples will be labelled as separate samples, and will be "bond"; i.e., the
laboratory will not know it is a duplicate (see Section 3.5.1).
Split samples are collected when a well Is sampled with a third party (e.g., Ecology). Split samples
should be collected using the same method as a duplicate, alternating between sample bottles, and
proceeding in the designated sampling order. The well at which a split sample is collected must be
identified on the field sampling data sheet. Also note the condition of the bottles or preservatives,
the sample collection method (if different from the standard), and the selected agency laboratory.
2.6.1.2 Trip Blanks
Trip blanks are used to detect contamination that may be introduced in bottle preparation, in transit
to or from the sampling Site, or in the field. Trip blanks are used to detect VOC contamination. There
will be one trip blank In each cooler used to ship VOC samples to the laboratory. The trip blank will
consist of a purged -free deionized/distilled water blank supplied by the analytical laboratory. It will
be transported to and from the field, then returned to the laboratory unopened and unaltered for
analysis. The term "purged -free" water refers to deionized/distilled water that has been boiled and
capped In the laboratory.
ApN1 2024 1 553-1753-010 2-B
Revised May 2024
