Kittitas County, Wash in gton <br />Review, anatyze, and recommend updates to policies, software, or tools to improve investigative <br />capabitities. <br />Participate in training and devetopment of the Digitat Forensic lnvestigator I if that position is fitted <br />Complete speciat project as assigned. <br />This job description is a summary of the primary functions and expectations for fhis posltlon. Additional <br />department-related duties may be assrgned as required. <br />MtNTMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <br />. High Schoot Diptoma or GED equivatent. <br />r US citizenship or lawfuI permanent resident. <br />r Associate's degree in computer science or retated fiel,d. <br />. Minimum of three (3)years of professional experience in digitatforensic investigations in a criminaI <br />justice setting inctuding demonstrated capabitity in the extraction of digitat forensic evidence and the <br />interpretation of such evidence in the context of criminaI investigations. <br />r An equivatent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in tieu of education and <br />experience requirements listed above (must be approved by the Sheriff and Civil Service Commission <br />upon review of apptication). <br />o Vatid Washington State Driver's License. <br />r Must pass att required Civit Service examinations. <br />o Successf ut comptetion of Basic Computer Evidence Recovery Training at the US Secret Service's <br />NationaI Computer Forensic lnstitute, or equivatent at time of hire. <br />o A criminat history and background checkwitt be performed on quatified appticants. Convictions may <br />prectude candidates from emptoyment in certain circumstances. Factors such as retativity to the <br />position, age at time of the offense, seriousness and nature of the viotation, and evidence of <br />rehabititation witt be taken into consideration. <br />REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: <br />Demonstrated proficiency in the use of digitat etectronic devices, programs, and systems. <br />Advanced computer skitts utitizing both Microsoft and Appte operating systems. <br />Ctear, correct, and effective Engtish tanguage written communications. <br />Abitity to maintain confidentiatity with respect to the area of work. <br />Abitity to work a futt-time, 40-hour work week. <br />Abitity to work independentty and as part of a team. <br />Abitity to estabtish professionat and cooperative working retationships with emptoyees, other agencies, <br />and the pubtic. <br />PREFE RRED QUALIFI CATIONS: <br />o Bachelor's degree in digitat forensics or related field. <br />r Certification as a Computer Forensic Examiner by lAClS, the lnternationaI Association of Computer <br />I nvestigative Specia tists. <br />r Knowtedge of muttipte operating systems inctudingWindows, Linux, OSX, Android, IOS and others. <br />r Knowtedge of principtes and procedures of record keeping. <br />a <br />a <br />a <br />a <br />a <br />a <br />a <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />2
