The DFI acts as a technical expert with the Sheriff's <br />Office regarding Digitat Forensics. Receives a speciaL commission from the <br />Sheriff granting timited authority to work with regutar commissioned deputies and <br />detectives under the guidance of Locat/State/Federat laws and regutations, <br />County poticies, regutations and procedures. <br />None <br />FuLL-Time OCCUPATION GODE: 5766 <br />Locat 760 (Non-Uniformed Jait) HOURS/WEEK: 40 <br />Non-Exempt DRS ELIGIBILITY: PERS <br />Law Enforcement PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 12 Months <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: <br />o Conduct seizures and examinations of electronic devices inctuding cetl phones, smart phones, tabtets, <br />taptops, personaI computers, and etectronic data storage media to secure and recover data as <br />evidence. <br />r Assist in the execution of search warrants for evidence in criminaI investigations inctuding deptoying <br />into the fietd to assist Law Enforcement in evidence searches and cottection. Conduct on-site forensic <br />analysis previews of digitat evidence. <br />. Prepare detaited reports of digitat evidence extractions, anatyses, and investigations. <br />o Assist prosecuting attorneys with triat preparation and the coordinated presentation of digitat evidence. <br />o Make court appearances as required and testify about investigations. <br />o Make recommendations regarding items to be seized based on search warrant specifics and retevant <br />case [aw. <br />. Conduct and participate in internet-based investigations inctuding but not timited to ontine operations <br />regarding chitd exptoitation, chitd pornography, underage prostitution, and cyberstatking. <br />o Learn new and emerging technotogies retevant to digitat forensic investigations such as peer-to-peer <br />network operations and advanced open-source intettigence techniq ues. <br />r Devetop and maintain cottaborative and respectfuI retationships with office members, outside <br />agencies, and others. <br />o Present information to community organizations regarding digitat forensic investigations. <br />. Provide training and education for Sheriff's Office and other pubtic safety personnel regarding digitat <br />forensics. <br />. ComptV with retevant laws and regutations and the poticies of the Sheriff's Office and Kittitas County. <br />o Ensure integrity and confidentiaLity of evidence by property securing and documenting data and <br />devices to maintain a reliabte chain of custody. <br />r Review, anatyze, and recommend updates to poticies, software, or tools to improve investigative <br />capabitities. <br />r Work in a manner that reftects the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Sheriff's Off ice. <br />1
