Vector -borne diseases are constantly evolving, and surveillance is essential to understanding how
they spread. By tracking changes in mosquito and tick populations, the county can contribute to
larger public health efforts and better anticipate potential disease risks.
As part of this year's tick surveillance effort, Melissa will conduct fieldwork, including tick
dragging, to collect samples for lab testing. The collected ticks will be sent to the state for
analysis, with the state epidemiologist handling the results. This data will contribute to statewide
public health decisions related to vector control and disease monitoring.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
None
ATTACHMENTS: none
Legal consultation?
