Survey on Short-Term Rentals
Q20 Do you have any additional comments or concerns regarding short-
term rentals in our Kittitas County?
Answered: 333 Skipped: 457
# RESPONSES DATE
1 I'm taking this survey because Gina Peckman has forwarded this survey to HUNDREDS of 2/18/2025 4:29 AM
people who in return have forwarded to hundreds of people. Her company "Peckman Search
Partners"should be a red flag and indication on how skewed your survey response likely has
been. I hope your local government is cautious with results from this and does its due
diligence. Please make sure your elected officials are aware of this concern as well. Best of
luck.
2 Our town's resources are stressed enough. Please choose community or capitalism. 2/17/2025 10:19 PM
3 Tired of ST Renters destroying community property and disregarding rules as they are only 2/17/2025 9:53 PM
there for a couple nights. Owners should pay fines for renter bad behavior. Bad behavior
doesn't add to our community and costs the rest of us money.
4 let people do what they want with their own property, as long as it is safe legal and they are 2/17/2025 7:40 PM
paying taxes.
5 1 have talked with both the insurance company for our HOA and an HOA attorney regarding 2/17/2025 6:35 PM
short term rentals. Our HOA insurance company states that airbnb's are a red flag and must be
approved prior to being covered by the company. There have been numerous law suites where
HOA board members have been sued for acts performed by airbnb tenants. HOA attorney
stated owners of short term rentals have the right to rent out their home as they wish. We need
the County to require some type of regulation to help stabalize the situation, yet allow home
owners to rent their properties if that is what they wish. The noise some short term tenants
create, disrespect for others and the risk of wildfires all need monitoring and some level of
accountability. Other short term rentals are without issue but, there is no community stability
with too many short term rentals.
6 No 2/17/2025 5:48 PM
7 We're concerned that renters may not have knowledge as far as fire safety or follow burn bans 2/17/2025 4:05 PM
or restrictions. We also feel that they won't have the respect or care for our community.
8 Definitely think limiting the density of strs like done in Chelan county is a good thing. 2/17/2025 3:19 PM
9 If you want help with Surveys, you can contact me at: Kevin Silver, kjsilver@gmail.com, 2/17/2025 2:34 PM
650.283.3488, Ronald, WA
10 Our area is so beautiful and bringing in those that don't live in the area is a risk to the 2/17/2025 1:13 PM
maintenance of our roads and lakes. When you don't live in the area you don't feel as
compelled to not litter or take care of the area.
11 Short term rentals are a great economic development and tourism opportunity for visitors to 2/16/2025 3:25 PM
learn about the area. We have an STIR across the street and have been invited to weddings
and dinner-we love meeting new people and hearing the children playing in their yard.
12 There is always an impact on small towns. I love the small town feel, which is why we 2/16/2025 2:52 PM
invested in the property. I started as a short-term rental and then purchased years ago. This
rental has brought joy to so many. While it comes with some frustrations, the long-term
investment for this middle class family is important. My children deserve to have a place to
call their own.
13 We dislike them. Rarely a good experience involving them. 2/16/2025 8:16 AM
14 Regulation in some areas, maybe required, whereas others may not be. I think a blanket 2/15/2025 10:36 AM
approach would be wrong.
15 Thank you for hearing the concerns and seeking input for how to address the problems. 2/15/2025 8:28 AM
63 /87
