Office; meaning, previous time served within the Corrections division does not apply, nor do years of <br />service with another agency for a Lateral hire. <br />A. ln cases where less than twenty-four (24) hours' notice is available, the Sheriff shall call <br />employees in order of those best suited for the situation, not necessarily in order of seniority, <br />until an available employee is found. <br />B. Overtime communication and assignment procedure for opportunities between twenty-four <br />(24) hours and seven (7) calendar days shall be: <br />L A group text will be sent to all deputies' designated phone numbers. <br />2. The most senior qualified deputy who calls to confirm his/her interest within two (2) hours <br />of the text shall be assigned the overtime work. Response by text message shall not be <br />allowed. <br />C. A senior employee may not bump a junior employee scheduled for overtime within seven (7) <br />calendar days of the scheduled overtime. <br />ARTICLE 12 - BEREAVEMENT LEAVE <br />12.1 An employee shall be allowed up to three (3) working days with full pay in the event of the death of <br />an immediate family member. With approval of the Sheriff or designee, leave may be increased by <br />two (2) days, to a maximum of five (5) working days with full bereavement leave pay in the event the <br />death/funeral occurs out of state. Additional leave days may be granted at the discretion of the <br />Sheriff through use of the appropriate leave bank. lmmediate family shall be defined as persons <br />related by blood or marriage, guardianship, or legal adoption to the extent of spouse, child, parent, <br />brother, sister, grandparent, or grandchild, a more distant relative if living in the same household, or <br />as provided by statute. <br />ARTICLE 13 - SICK LEAVE <br />13.1 Sick Leave Accrual: Full-time employees shall be awarded one (1) day, ten (10) hours of sick leave <br />for each month of employment. <br />1g.2 Employees may not carry over more than the following amount of sick leave beyond December 31't <br />of each year. <br />FTE STATUS SICK LEAVE HOURS <br />Full-time (1Q0To FTE or 40 hours per week)1,096 Hours <br />Part-time (FTE equivalent by percentage)Pro-rated to the FTE percentaqe <br />13.3 A deduction of one (1) working day of accrued sick leave shall be applied for each full day absent <br />due to illness, injury, medical treatment, or to care for a member of the employee's immediate family. <br />lmmediate family shall be defined as persons related by blood or marriage, guardianship, or legal <br />adoption to the extent of spouse, child, parent, brother, sister, grandparent, or grandchild, a more <br />distant relative if living in the same household, or as provided by statute.
