Page 1 of 2 <br />Information Technology “Study Session Staff Report”, 9/23/24 <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />STAFF REPORT FOR <br />STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />Information Technology <br /> <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: 9/23/24 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Request of Direction on Remote Work Computer Equipment <br />Purchasing & Deployment <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Board Direction <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: IT Director Doug Fessler <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />The IT Department is requesting direction from the BoCC regarding <br /> <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br /> <br />• The IT Department is committed to providing the highest level of service and <br />equipment while remaining a fiscally responsible ET Fund manager. <br />• The recent transformation of the CRIS Fund into the ET Fund and the resulting <br />changes to our budgeting practices necessitates the need for our department <br />develop new strategies to meet the above objectives. <br />• The Board has approved a remote work policy. <br />• The IT Department is requesting direction from the board regarding their <br />priorities in equipping departments and offices for remote work. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />The IT Department remains committed to delivering the highest level of service and <br />equipment, while also acting as a responsible manager of the ET Fund. Following the <br />recent transformation of the CRIS Fund into the ET Fund, along with changes to our <br />budgeting practices, we have had to develop new strategies to meet our obligations <br />effectively. <br />The Board has approved a new remote work policy, and the IT Department now seeks <br />direction on how best to proceed. Specifically, we ask whether the department should: <br />• Fulfill equipment requests from departments and offices without regard for <br />budgetary constraints, or
