regular property tax levy amount so approved for purposes of computing the <br />levy lid for subsequent levies, and that the proposition may sct the regular <br />property tax levy at a rate less than the maximum rate allowed for the taxing <br />district, and that the exemption fbr low-income senior citizens, disabled <br />veterans and other people wrth disabilitres authorized by RCW 84.63.381 will <br />apply to the levy lid lift; and <br />WHEREAS, the promotion of public health and safety for the provision <br />of emergency services, such as police, fire, to combat inflation and replenish <br />City reserves, require the expenditure ofrevenues in excess ofthe current levy <br />lid; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best <br />interest of the City and its residents to submit a levy lid lift proposition under <br />RCW 84.55.050(1) to the voters for their approval or rejection, authorizing an <br />increase to the City's regular property tax for collection by a rate of <br />approximately $0.48 per $1,000 of assessed value for a total levy rate $1.26 per <br />$1,000, which remains less than the maximum aggregate rate of $3.37 per <br />$1,000. The resulting increased revenue amount of approximately $152,290 <br />annually will be dedicated to funding public safety services. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of thc City <br />ot'Roslyn, as fbllows: <br />Section 1. Findi.ngs and Determinations. The City Council (the "City <br />Council") of City of Roslyn, Washington (the "City"), takes note of the foregoing <br />recitals and incorporates them into this resoLution as findings and <br />determinations of the City Council. <br />Section 2. Description gf the Ballot Ptoposi_tion. The City Council seeks <br />voter approval under RCW 84.55.050(1) of a levy proposition, as follows: <br />(a) Maximum Aegreeate Levv Rate Authorized. The proposition <br />authorizes the City to establish its maximum aggregate regular property tax <br />ievy to the amount resulting from a rate of $1.26 per $1,000 of assessed value <br />for levy coliection in 2025, which represents a rate that is less than the <br />maximum rate allowed for the City. <br />(b) Computinre the Limitations for Subsequent Levies. The City will use <br />the dollar amount of the maximum aggregate property tax levy resulting from <br />a rate of $1.26 per $1,000 of assessed value for the purpose of computing the <br />limitations for subsequent levies under chapter 84.55 RCW.
