11/19/2024 MINUTES 5 <br /> <br />Upper Kittitas County Senior Center. Chairman Wachsmith seconded. <br />Motion carried 2-1. Vice-Chairman Osiadacz voted against the motion. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wright moved to send the Kittitas County Friends of Animals <br />and the Kittitas County Health Network back to Staff and to fund the <br />Boys & Girls Club of the Columbia Basin, in the amount of $250,000.00. <br />Chairman Wachsmith seconded. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wright expressed concerns about the Kittitas County Friends <br />of Animals and lack of eligibility criteria for those using the program. <br />He would like to see some of the language tightened up and adhering to <br />the RCW, regarding the Kittitas County Health Network, and refer it back <br />to Staff. He said the Community Builders are already receiving funding <br />and he’d like to see more on what they are encountering and the <br />outcomes, as well as quantifying the numbers. <br /> <br />Vice-Chairman Osiadacz said she opposed not funding the Community <br />Builders. She felt the committee did a great job of reviewing all the <br />requests and was in favor of funding what they recommended. She said Dr. <br />Larson has already indicated how there’s a lack of resources for youth <br />in the Upper County, and turning away high school youth was a bad idea. <br />Motion failed 1-2. <br /> <br />Chairman Wachsmith moved to fund the requests from Community Builders in <br />the amount of $416,003.62, Kittitas County Friends of Animals in the <br />amount of $60,000.00, and the Boys & Girls Club of the Columbia Basin, <br />in the amount of $306,988.00. Vice-Chairman Osiadacz seconded. <br /> <br />Chairman Wachsmith said the Community Builders are a valuable resource <br />in the Upper County for youth, and they scored the third highest from <br />the Committee’s recommendations. He said the Boys & Girls Club was a <br />huge focus and how the Kittitas County Friends of Animals came back with <br />good proposals. Commissioner Wright said he’d support the Kittitas <br />County Friends of Animals proposal, but would still like clarification <br />on the eligibility requirements. He said he didn’t want to cut the <br />Community Builders, but would like to see correlating data, even if it’s <br />relating to behavior issues in school, crime, etc. <br /> <br />Motion approved 3-0.
