• Work closely with other IT staff to support the overall goals and objectives of the department and the County. <br /> <br />This job description is a summary of the primary functions and expectations for this position. Additional department- <br />related duties may be assigned as required. <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />• High School Diploma or GED. <br />• At least three (3) years of experience providing technology and/or GIS support to a wide variety of users. <br />• College courses in GIS or Information Technology may substitute for some of the experience requirements listed <br />above. <br />• Valid and active Washington State driver’s license. <br />• A criminal history and background check will be performed on qualified applicants. Convictions may preclude <br />candidates from employment in certain circumstances. Factors such as relativity to the position, age and time of <br />the offense, seriousness and nature of the violation, and rehabilitation will be taken into account. <br /> <br />REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES <br />• Familiarity with GIS software and tools, such as ArcGIS, Experience Building, Dashboard, and Survey 123. <br />• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs, system maintenance and troubleshooting, and <br />ability to quickly learn other programs specific to the position/department. <br />• Understanding of licensing and permissions management for software applications. <br />• Ability to assist in emergency mapping duties and geospatial analysis. <br />• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills. <br />• Maintain professionalism, friendly manner and patient communication, even in stressful situations. <br />• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. <br />• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. <br />• Ability to maintain confidentiality. <br /> <br />PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS <br />• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Information Technology, or related field. <br />• Knowledge of basic GIS concepts and principles. <br />• Experience training or supporting end-users. <br />• Experience with emergency mapping and geospatial analysis. <br />• Previous work experience in the public sector. <br /> <br />WORKING CONDITIONS <br />Work is generally performed in an office environment with potential exposure to dusty conditions. Sustained posture <br />in a seated position and prolonged periods of computer operation; use of standard office equipment; strength to lift, <br />pull, push and/or carry up to 25 pounds (possibly more with assistance); vision to read printed materials, a computer <br />screen, and allow installation of equipment in all lighting conditions; and hearing and speech to communicate clearly <br />in person or over the telephone. Must be able to reach with arms, grasp, sit, kneel, stoop, bend, squat, twist, crawl <br />under office furniture, climb a ladder and stairs. Safety rules and regulations must be adhered to at all times. <br /> <br />Travel throughout the County is required to attend meetings and assist GIS users, with occasional travel outside of the <br />County to attend training opportunities. Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all types of weather <br />and all levels of light. <br /> <br />Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality are required and expected during regular business hours; however, <br />extended or weekend hours may be required on occasion. <br />
