Submit the screening tool to your Commerce grant manager for <br />approval. <br />5.5 HEN Referral <br />5.5.1 Documentation of HEN Referrals <br />ln place of income verification, lead/subgrantees must verify and document the household's HEN <br />Referralfrom the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) as documented in <br />the Benefits Verification System (BVS) prior to program entry' <br />The CH6 Verificotion of Household Eligibitity ond lncome Recertification Form and HEN Referral <br />documentation must be kept in the client file. <br />For pregnant Women Assistance (PWA) recipients with a HEN Referral, BVS will only display active PWA <br />households. lf a household is no longer on the program (e.g. birth of baby), BVS will no longer display <br />an active status. Contact your Commerce CHG grant manager to help determine PWA status. The <br />referral to HEN remains valid for 24 consecutive months. <br />5.6 HENEligibilityRecertification <br />Lead/subgra ntees must docu ment recertification of the household's HEN Referral from DSHS as <br />documented in the BVS at least every three months. Both the HEN Referral and updated CHG <br />Verificotion of Household Eligibility and lncome Recertificotion Form must be kept in the client file. <br />Recertification is not required for HEN households who are a PWA recipient up to 24 months. <br />5.6.1 HEN lneligible at Recertification <br />lf households do not have a HEN Referral at recertification and are determined ineligible for HEN, HEN <br />funding cannot be used to support that household anyfurther. Consider using other CHG funding such <br />as CHG Standard or Eviction prevention to support the household transition to self-sufficiency. lf other <br />CHG funding is used for an ineligible household they may remain in the program for an additional three <br />months and case management may continue for an additional six months. <br />8 HEN Referral includes householdswho have a HEN Referral and households enrolled in General Assistance (ABD recipient) and General Assistance <br />pregnancy (Pregnant women Assistance recipient) from DSHS as documented in BVS. <br />Page | 26
