0 <br /> KittPtas Ccunty <br /> Publ ic Health <br /> DepFr1inent <br /> To Protect and Promote the Health and the Environment of the People of Kittitas County <br /> COVID-19 Response <br /> Since January 2020, KCPHD has been responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and receiving funding from the Washington <br /> State Department of Health designated specifically for COVID-19 response.At its height, KCPHD's annual budget was up <br /> to 30%dedicated COVID-19 funding. <br /> Current COVID-19 funding has been significantly reduced, and for 2025 is budgeted at 8%of total revenue.The <br /> Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has received additional funds from the Washington State Legislature to <br /> address COVID-19 at significantly reduced amounts.A request for continued funding at$200,000 for 2024 was <br /> submitted to the DOH for activities previously covered through the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity(ELC)fund. <br /> However, KCPHD was only funded at$47,454 through June 30, 2024. No plans for additional funding past June have <br /> been announced. <br /> Other COVID-19 funding consist of Vaccine Services(ending in June 2024)and the completion of the COVID-19 Rural <br /> Health Equity Project(ending March 2024). <br /> Grants <br /> Department grant funding represents 21%of total revenue from 16 separate sources: <br /> • Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response ($49,133), <br /> • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education or SNAP-Ed ($34,415), <br /> • Access to Baby and Child Dentistry or ABCD ($17,938), <br /> • Maternal and Child Health or MCH ($44,196), <br /> • Opioid Prevention Project through the Kittitas County Health Network($66,750), <br /> ■ Local Solid Waste Financial Assistance or LSWFA($63,807), <br /> • Youth Marijuana Prevention ($10,000), <br /> ■ Youth Tobacco/Vape Prevention ($10,000), <br /> • Workforce Development($300,000), <br /> • Syringe Services Syndemic Program ($75,500), <br /> • Childhood Immunization Improvement Project($6,160), <br /> • FISH Food Bank Produce Prescription Participant Feedback Project($2,295), <br /> • Law and Justice ($2,000), and <br /> • FDA Food Safety Training($7,000) <br /> This also includes an estimated additional $100,000 from the Department of Ecology for air quality and pollution <br /> prevention programming. Grant funds confirmation will be provided before January 2025. <br /> State Public Health Funding _- <br /> Twice per year,the department receives County General Public Health Assistance Funds ($198,979 total each year)from <br /> the Washington State Department of Treasury.These funds must be used in a way that demonstrates to the state <br /> legislature that the department is providing or supplementing public health programs needed in the community that are <br /> essential to the department's mission.This funding is primarily used to support administrative costs necessary to build <br /> and retain capacity to provide public health programs and services. <br /> Kittitas County Public Health Department—2025 Preliminary Budget Narrative Page 5 of 15 <br /> 12 <br />
