Kittitas County <br /> Public Health <br /> uepartment <br /> To Protect and Promote the Health and the Environment of the of Kittitas County <br /> New Positions <br /> KCPHD plans to add two new roles to the public health functions of the department in 2025, both within the <br /> Environmental Health (EH) Division. <br /> Environmental Health Specialist III <br /> The EH Specialist III is the next step in the specialist progression.This position serves as a technical lead in specific EH <br /> programs and provides succession planning for the EH Manager. In order to advance to the EH Specialist III,staff must <br /> have at least four years of professional EH experience during which they demonstrate excellent performance,must <br /> obtain their Washington State Board of Registered Sanitarians, Registered Sanitarian Certification,and meet program <br /> specific certification requirements for the programs in which they are the lead.This position does not increase the FTE <br /> within the division and will be capped at no more than two EH Specialist III positions on the team at any given time. Due <br /> to increased responsibilities, it is set at a pay grade 20,and will be funded through EH fees. <br /> Environmental Health Coordinator <br /> The EH Coordinator position will focus on efforts related to environmental health assessments,community outreach, <br /> regulatory compliance and education,and program development and evaluation.This first of its kind position within EH <br /> will only be funded partially through EH fees,and primary funding will come through anticipated grants from the <br /> Washington State Department of Ecology and the Washington State Department of Health. Non fee-based funding will <br /> allow for flexibility in activities to develop new EH programs to address emerging environmental concerns such as air <br /> quality and algal blooms,support unfunded mandates such as septic system operations and maintenance requirements, <br /> and provide quality improvement and assurance for existing programs.This position will add 1.0 FTE to the EH division. <br /> In order to align with existing coordinator positions within the department and to reflect increased responsibility, it is <br /> set at a pay grade 20.
