<br />54 <br /> <br />If a visual assessment reveals problems with paint surfaces, Lead/Subgrantees cannot approve <br />the unit for assistance until the deteriorating paint has been repaired. Lead/Subgrantees may <br />wait until the repairs are completed or work with the household to locate a different (lead‐safe) <br />unit. <br /> <br />Locating a Certified Lead Professional and Further Training <br />To locate a certified lead professional in your area: <br /> Call your state government (health department, lead poison prevention progra m, or <br />housing authority). <br /> Call the National Lead Information Center at 1‐800‐424‐LEAD (5323). <br /> Go to the US Environmental Protection Agency website at <br />https://www.epa.gov/leadand click on "Find a Lead-Safe Certified Firm." <br /> Go to Washington State Department of Commerce Lead-Based Paint Program website at <br />http://www.commerce.wa.gov/building-infrastructure/housing/lead-based-paint/lead- <br />based-paint-program-lbpabatement/ and click on “Find a Certified LBP Firm” under <br />Other Resources. <br /> <br />Information on lead-based programs in Washington State can be found at <br />http://www.commerce.wa.gov/building-infrastructure/housing/lead-based-paint/. <br /> <br />For more information on the Federal training and certification program for lead professionals, <br />contact the National Lead Information Center (NLIC) at https://www.epa.gov/lead/forms/lead- <br />hotline-national-lead-information-centeror 1‐800‐424‐LEAD to speak with an information <br />specialist. <br /> <br />The Lead Safe Housing Rule as well as a HUD training module can be accessed at <br />http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/program_offices/healthy_homes/enforcement/lshr <br />
