from Washington State has been stressing the <br />importance of evaluating train service from <br />Seattle to central Washington, including stops <br />in Kittitas County and through Yakama. The <br />current train service, although it does travel <br />to Spokane from Western Washington (and <br />Portland, OR) travels along a northern route <br />and does not provide service to residents <br />and travelers in Kittitas. The rail study, FRA <br />Long Distance Rail Study, is in the early stages <br />of working with stakeholders and collecting <br />information.' <br />CHAPTER 2: RANGE OF ALTERNATIVES <br />in addition, in June 2020, the Washington <br />Legislature directed the Joint Transportation <br />Committee to study the potential for <br />passenger rail service that would serve Auburn, <br />Ellensburg, Yakima and the Tri-Cities.
