BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF KITTITAS STATE OF WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO.2024- AUTHORIZING THE SUPPORT OF KITTITAS COUNTY'S WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE 2026 PERIODIC UPDATE GRANT APPLICATION WHEREAS: Kittitas County is required to update its Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update by 2026 per the Growth Management Act (GMA)RCW 36.70A.; and WHEREAS: Kittitas County is required to plan for climate change and resiliency, which was added as the 14"'goal of the Growth Management Act(GMA)RCW 36.70A.; and WHEREAS: Kittitas County is required to specifically update its Comprehensive Plan to include a Resiliency sub-element with goals and policies to improve climate preparedness,response and recovery efforts per the Growth Management Act(GMA)RCW 36.70A.; and WHEREAS: Monies have been appropriate by the Legislator to the Washington State Department of Commerce who has the responsibility to administer these monies to local jurisdictions,to meet their comprehensive plan periodic update deadline; and WHEREAS: Kittitas County will apply for a Climate Grant through the Washington State Department of Commerce; and NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Kittitas County, Washington, in the best interest of the public,does hereby support Kittitas County's Washington State Department of Commerce Climate&Resiliency grant application and scope of work to facilitate Kittitas County in the periodic review and update necessary to the meet the requirements of the Growth Management Act.
