(When the kids are happy and <br />busy, the parents are happy and conient to stay the day.) <br />For lhe first 24 years of the Easton Memorial Day Celebraiion the followers were <br />"word of mouth" only. Over the last B years, with the help of the Kittilas County <br />Lodging Tax grant, we have been able to advertise via radiolinternet arrd <br />newspapers within a 1O0-nrile radius of Easton. <br />A month prior to our eveni, we put out our bright yellow, 20-foot banners on both <br />sides of l-90, reminding and snagging travelers of our upcoming event. Colorful and <br />patriotic flyers are posted in any place that will allow us to advertise. <br />Memorial Day weekend is the longesl stretch that workers wait between times off <br />from work. By the time Chrisimas is over and summer begins, people are anxious to <br />get out of the cities. The Easton Menroriai Day Celebration and the surrounding <br />beauty of the Easton area allows you lo make the most of your time, of your 3 days <br />away lrom work to relax and have fun before you have lo turn atound and return lo <br />the city <br />Memorial Day is slatistically the highest traffic ,/olume of the year. According to the <br />WSDOT Geoportal Map, l-90 has anywhere from 40,000 io 80,000 vehicles on a <br />daily average traveling over Snoqr:almie Pass. Coming from the vvest. visitor$ enter <br />Kittitas County at the top of Snoqualmre Pass and Easton is the first town in Easlern. <br />Washington for visitors. Surrounded by State and Federal campgrounds, privale <br />recreational lodging, Memorial Day weekend is one of busiest ior overnight stays. <br />Only one hour from Seattle. day trips to hike, bike, fish, and multiple other <br />recreational experiences can be accessed at Easton. Those who are traveling from <br />the east, find that Easton is an easy location io travel to visit for a day, atrd celebrate <br />the three-day weekend. The Memorial Day Celebration offers additional incentive for <br />visitors to stay overnight at one of the many campgrounds and private lodging <br />facilities oflered close by.
