KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: May 7, 2024 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Authorize the Chair's <br />Signature on Watershed Science and Engineering, Inc. <br />Task Order No. 5 - Ellensburg Urban Flooding Hydraulic <br />Analysis. <br />BACKGROUND: The City of Ellensburg was awarded Flood Control <br />Account Assistance Program (FCAAP) funding by the <br />Department of Ecology. This grant will fund a city -led <br />effort to improve flood risk information associated with <br />Whiskey and Mercer Creeks in the city and identify flood <br />mitigation actions. The City has asked the Flood Control <br />Zone District to provide matching contributions valued at <br />$100,000 in the form of District staff time and tasking our <br />on -call consultant with integration of the City's work with <br />County -led flood risk assessment. Task Order No. 5 - <br />Ellensburg Urban Flooding Hydraulic Analysis tasks our <br />on -call consultant with this work. The value of Task Order <br />No. 5 exceeds the contract authorization amount currently <br />provided to the Public Works Director. <br />At the April 8, 2024 Study Session, the Board of County <br />Commissioners provided staff with direction to proceed to <br />support the City's FCAAP project. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution to Authorize the Chair's Signature <br />on Watershed Science and Engineering, Inc.
