INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br />WALLA WALLA COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />AND KTTTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON, <br />FOR THE HOUSING OF'INMATES <br />THIS INTERLOCAL AGRtrEMENT is rnade and entered into on this '/!'ii^,of202*by and behveen Kittitas County, Washington, a Washington <br />municipnl tion,hereinafter referred to as "Kittitns County,,, ,,The Cou nfy" ol'"KCJ" <br />on behnlf of Kittitns County Jail, nnd Walln Walla County, Wai hington, also a Washington <br />Municipal Corporation, hereinafter referrecl to as ,,Walla Walla County", each parfy having <br />bcen duly organized and norv existing unclcr the larvs of the State of Washington. Both <br />cntitics may be referred fo in this Agreement collectively as "Pfll'ties" or individually ns <br />"Pflrf;/". <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, Kittitas County owns and operates the Ifittitas Couuty Jail <br />(KCJ), located in Ellensbur.g, Washingtou; and <br />WHEREAS, walla walla county and the lar,v enforcenrent agencies <br />rvithin Walla Walla County employ law enforcement officers who au'est;rersons <br />for misdemeatlol's? gross misdemeanors, or felonies, wlrich may result in jailing <br />ofthe person arrested; and <br />WHEREAS, Walla Walla County seeks to contmct for jail facilities and <br />services fi'onr KCJ for confinement of walla walla county prisoners; and <br />WIIEREAS, KCJ has expressed a willingness to provide jail facilities <br />and selvices to Walla Walla County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Interlocal cooperation Act (chapter 39.34 RCw) and <br />the'City and corurty Jails Act" (Chapter'70.48 RCw), authodzes contracts for <br />jail services made between two counties; and <br />WHER.EAS , tlte governing bodies of each of the parties hereto have <br />detennined to enter into this Interlocal Agreenrent (ILA) for the Housing of <br />Innrates by action takerr at a regular nreeting; and <br />Now' THEREFORE, in considelatiorr of the above and foregoing <br />recitals, the payurents to be made, the rnutual promises and covenants herein <br />coutained, and lbr other good and valuable consicleration, the palties hereto agree <br />as follorvs: <br />lntellocal Agreement for the l-lousirrg of lnnrates Walla Walla County ancl l(iltitas <br />County <br />Page I of 13
