KITTITAS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS PUBLIC WORKS — BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT STUDY SESSION DATE: February 26, 2024 TOPIC: Bowers Field Website Funding ACTION REQUESTED: Direct staff regarding funding development of a new website LEAD STAFF: Joshua Fredrickson RECOMMENDATION: Direct staff regarding funding the development of a new Kittitas County Airport website BRIEFING SUMMARY: • Kittitas County Airport — Bowers Field has available land for development • Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) have identified the need for an updated airport website to promote economic growth and development • Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce is the Associate Economic Development Organization (ADO) for Kittitas County • Current ADO scope of work does not include cost and fee to support a new airport website BACKGROUND: Kittitas County Airport - Bowers Field includes lands which are leased for development including new hangars in the aeronautical area and industrial in the non -aeronautical lands. Economic development through a productive marketing plan is a priority. The creation of a new webpage for Kittitas County Airport — Bowers Field is a recommended priority of the Airport Advisory Committee (AAC). An updated webpage would provide the Airport an industry competitive presence in the marketplace. DISCUSSION: Public Works has engaged with the AAC to identify the website elements and design of a future webpage. These elements focus on increasing investment potential at Bowers Field. The development of a new webpage would be through a third -parry vendor utilizing input from the AAC and Public Works. The webpage would be designed to maximize use and efficiency for investors, pilots, and the community to engage the airport for development opportunities. This platform could be used to market available lots, provide information, and provide increased investment potential of Bowers Field.
