EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br />This 2023 Annual Bridge Report has been completed in compliance with WAC 136-20-060, which requires <br />that each County Road Engineer furnish a written report of the findings of the previous year's inspection <br />effort to the legislative authority. This report summarizes Kittitas County's bridge inspection program, <br />includes recommendations as to replacement, rehabilitation, repair, and load restrictions on the County's <br />deficient bridges. This annual bridge report is an important resource in preparing the County Six Year <br />Transportation Improvement Program and other transportation planning tools. <br />The goal of this report is to: <br />1. Provide the previous year's bridge inspection findings <br />2. Provide maintenance recommendations to maximize the life of the County bridge asset <br />3. Identify bridges which may need to be replaced or rehabilitated <br />4. Satisfy the reporting requirements set by other governmental agencies <br />Highlights from the 2023 bridge inspection program: <br />1. 178 bridge inspections were performed <br />a. 66 routine inspections performed on Kittitas County bridges. Included with the routine <br />inspections were two NSTM inspections, two Underwater inspections, and two initial <br />inventory inspections <br />b. 112 other bridge inspections including short span and other local agency bridges <br />2. Kittitas County was awarded $2,722,997 in Washington State Department of Transportation <br />Local Bridge funds for the replacement of the Cooke Canyon Road at Hiline Canal Bridge. The <br />proposed work began November 27, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed in April of 2024. <br />3. Kittitas County was awarded $2,531,727 in Washington State Department of Transportation <br />Local Bridge funds for the replacement of the Faust Road at Towne Ditch Bridge. The <br />proposed work began November 13, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed in April of 2024. <br />4. A new concrete bridge was constructed on Vantage Highway crossing the Cascade canal <br />which replaced a weight restricted, timber deck and timber superstructure bridge. <br />5. A new concrete bridge was constructed on the North Fork Teanaway Road crossing the North <br />Fork Teanaway River replacing a weight restricted concrete structure with accident damage. <br />6. Bridge No. 78112, which consists of two steel culverts, has had ownership transferred to the <br />City of Ellenburg due to City annexation of the accompanying area. <br />Kittitas County 2023 Annual Bridge Report <br />
