<br />Page 1 of 1 <br />Information Technology “Study Session Staff Report”, 9/25/2023 <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />STAFF REPORT FOR <br />STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />Information Technology <br /> <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: 9/25/2023 <br /> <br />TOPIC: IT Department seeks clarity and board direction for technology requests <br />which relate to the operations of PW, CDS and <br />Airport. <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Direct Staff <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Zane Kinney <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: IT Department seeks clarity and board direction for technology <br />requests which relate to the operations of PW, CDS and AP. <br /> <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />• Unprecedented requests challenge established IT practices. <br />• Clarification is needed for IT staff to understand what they have the authority to <br />complete on behalf of the Director of all three departments. <br />• The IT department seeks clarity and direction from the Board on the level of <br />customizations to our systems we should perform, in an effort accommodate the <br />unique and potentially temporary organization of these departments. <br />• IT wishes to ask the PW/CDS/AP director to appoint a single contact for all <br />requests concerning cross-department access to data and application features. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />The recent restructuring of the Public Works, Community Development Services and the <br />Airport departments has challenged the IT department with a novel situation. <br /> <br />The IT department is committed to minimizing disruptions to the daily operations of <br />these departments. We believe that, with Board clarification, we can be more responsive <br />to their needs and ensure that IT resources are allocated appropriately. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACTS: None <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: None
