G-1 <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SOLID WASTE/MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: January 9, 2024 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request Boards approval to move forward with replacing <br />sidewalks at Morris Sorenson Building. <br />BACKGROUND: The sidewalks at the Morris Sorenson Building have deteriorated over <br />the last 30 plus years and are in need of repairs. The deterioration has been caused by <br />tree upheaval and deicer over the years. <br />Maintenance and Human Resources have received numerous complaints from employees <br />and the public about the unsafe condition of the sidewalks. <br />In the past the uneven joints in the sidewalk had been ground down but the trees have <br />continued to cause an issue that is now beyond grinding. In addition, the East sidewalk <br />has broken up, and portions of the sidewalk are missing. <br />INTERACTION: Maintenance Department <br />RECOMMENDATION: Board approval to repair and replace sidewalks at the Morris <br />Sorenson building. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Pictures on sidewalks <br />LEAD STAFF: Patti Stacey, Facilities & Waste Operations Director. <br />
