To: Patti Stacey
Facilities Director
From: Sgt. J.D. Munguia N46
Date: 10-26-23
RE: Proposal for CHS ONLY transport parking stall at the west end parking area of the
Kittitas County Court House.
To whom it may concern,
I, Sgt. J. D. Munguia, Supervisor of the Courthouse security team would like to
propose/request a CHS ONLY/TRANSPORT parking space for the Courthouse security
team.
Parking space proposed: The parking space is located outside the west door of the
Courthouse building (West parking lot). Currently the first disabled parking space
south of the courthouse patio area. To include the unmarked space just to the left of
the parking stall.
Reasons for proposal:
• To provide a safer, more secure, always available transport parking area for CHS
Deputies conducting juvenile transports to the Courthouse, away from the public
parking areas.
Benefits:
• A designated transport parking area large enough to accommodate regular and
oversized transport vehicles.
• A safer parking area for loading and unloading juvenile offenders being transported
to court, away from the public.
• Access to a disabled ramp if needed for disabled offenders being transported to
court.
• Multiple surveillance cameras located in area and observed by CHS Deputies.
• Note: Parking is not always available near the courthouse during high traffic days.
(Heavy court, Jury trials etc.) Parking on the jail side (6"' street) is not a viable
option for the safety and security of the Deputy and juvenile offender.
