All abandoned driveways that are replaced with a new permitted driveway, or driveways <br />shall be removed at the owner’s expense. <br />H. Maintenance of driveway approaches shall be the responsibility of the owner whose <br />property they serve. The County will not maintain accesses. <br />I. Maintenance of any driveway culvert shall be the responsibility of the owner whose <br />property they serve. Damaged or failing culverts must be replaced by the owner whose <br />property they serve. If the culvert is in need of replacing the county may give the <br />property owner 30 days’ notice to replace the culvert. After such time the County may <br />replace the culvert and charge the owner the cost of the replacement. The County will <br />not maintain accesses. The county may clear the culvert to allow water to pass. <br />J. No driveway or road shall be constructed within five feet of the side property boundary, <br />unless the driveway or road is part of an easement shared with the neighboring property <br />owner. <br />K. The following notes regarding driveway access shall be placed on the face of the plat, <br />short plat, or other development authorization: <br /> <br />b. “Maintenance of the driveway access and private roads that are not intended to <br />become county right-of-way is the responsibility of the property owners who <br />benefit from its use.” <br />c. “Any further subdivision or lots to be served by proposed access may result in <br />further access requirements. See Kittitas County Roadway, Bridge, and <br />Development Standards.” <br />d. “An approved access permit shall be required from the Department of Public <br />Works prior to creating any new driveway access or performing work within the <br />County right-of-way.” <br />12.04.07.050 Access Placement. <br />A. Residential lots shall have one access point.
