EMS will approach the site from George or Ellensburg, depending upon availability. Head -to -head traffic will be
stopped by blocking both lanes of traffic on either side of the work zone. If traffic can move around the lane
that the collision occurred in, barricades will be opened and traffic on the bridge released in the forward
direction only, keeping oncoming traffic off the bridge. When the unaffected lane is cleared, vehicles in the
affected lane will be flagged to leave the bridge in the forward direction only, keeping oncoming traffic from
entering the bridge. When traffic in both lanes has been cleared, EMS will enter the bridge deck. In the event
air support is required, EMS will bring the patient to the wide area in the gravel road between 1-90 and SR 26
for transport, or to the Vantage Stockpile Site, and or as directed with WSP support.
Will incident response team (IRT) and or tow be available?
If both lanes (or the single lane for the center deck) are blocked and a wrecker and roll off truck are required,
WSDOT will work with the contractor to clear the deck or lane. Once the accident and traffic have been cleared
the wrecker and EMS can enter the deck.
Wildfire (Large Event -Small events can be scaled)
West of the project area. Assume North to South Prevailing Winds
Assume a grass fire start on the west bound lanes.
