Project the fully implemented local plans on the number of households
p1 housed and the number of households left unsheltered, assuming existingtrt resources and state policies.
This project will add 25 units to the County homeless stock, as well as 25 additional units of
affordable lowincome housing, a priority of Objective 4 in the recently updated homeless plan.
The plan also shows an increased need for housing that targets senior, disabled, and veteran
households who are rapidly being priced out of the market. This project will add ten units of
low-income housing targeting households earning at or below 50% AMl, Homeless households
will be placed through Coordinated Entry, which will reduce pressure on the homeless
response system in the county,
M nOar.rs racial disparities amongst people experiencing homelessness.
HopeSource recognizes that race and economic status can significantly limit the opportunities
of program participants and acknowledges the unequal impact of these factors. HopeSource
works to prepare program participants to overcome systemic racism in housing, education,
asset building, income, employment, and access to high-quality food. lt is the expectation that
employees are sensitive to all diversity within the population of persons served by the
organization and the employee workforce.
l7lotn"'information you think would be beneficial for the Committee to know
HopeSource priorities and the priorities of the Homeless and Affordable Housing committee
strongly align with Governor lnslee's Reducing Poverty and lnequality 10-Year plan. All of those
projected to be served by this funding will have housing stability plans, including education and
employment plans. HopeSource's Hope University provides in-person and virtual coaching in
life skills such as basic budgeting, credit and debt, smart spending, stress management, and
healthy living to ensure they can maintain their independence in the long term. The
HopeSource Hope University suite works with people to strengthen or gain work skills and
behavior that will secure and sustain employment.
7
