KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: September 11, 2023 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Ratifying the Chair's <br />Signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus for the Vantage Highway Paving CRP 317-23. <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County was informed there may be a surplus of <br />federal funds available to Local Agencies that have shovel <br />ready projects able to obligate funding by mid -September <br />of this year. <br />Public Works identified the repaving of Vantage Highway <br />from City of Ellensburg limits to No. 81 Road as a project <br />that meets the criteria of this funding. <br />Project design will be performed by Kittitas County Public <br />Works. This project will require a 13.5 percent match in <br />local funds for construction. The current estimated total <br />cost of the project is $3,950,000.00, with $534,000.00 <br />being the Local match. <br />Notice was received September 1, 2023, that Kittitas <br />County was awarded federal redistribution funding in the <br />amount of $3,416,720.00. Owing to the short timeline <br />required by WSDOT for obligation, the Chair signed the <br />project prospection and Public Works is now requesting the <br />Board ratify the signature. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Ratifying the Chair's signature on <br />the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the <br />Vantage Highway Paving CRP 317-23. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus <br />LEAD STAFF: Josh Fredrickson, County Engineer <br />
