Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Informational. <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />• Community Development Services (CDS) and Public Works (PW) have been <br />supporting a State Auditor Office (SAO) performance audit concerning permits <br />issued from 2019 through 2022. <br />• Earlier this month, CDS and PW received an update of the audit from the SAO's <br />Office. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Kittitas County was selected as one of the first rural counties to receive a permitting <br />performance audit from the SAO. For the past several months, a PW Fiscal/Technology <br />Specialist and the Assistant Building Official have been responding to SAO data <br />requests. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The SAO is in the final stages of completing validation of permit data provided by the <br />county for the period: 2019-2022. The next step in the audit requires the county provide <br />additional information and supporting documentation. It is likely that the SAO will <br />review selected permit files during July. Once the July work is complete, the SAO will <br />meet with staff sharing the results of the audit work and allow staff to provide feedback <br />on audit findings.
