KITTITAS COUNTY <br />EC STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />MONDAY 10:00 AM Aril 24 2023 <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright, Vice -Chairman Brett Wachsmith, <br />Commissioner Laura Osiadacz <br />Others: Kady Porterfield (Event Center Director), Lacie Dawson (Event Center Program <br />Manager) <br />1. Call to Order: 10:01 am <br />2. Citizen Comments (1 min. time limit): None <br />3. General Event and Rental Updates: KVEC just completed Elementary Ag Education <br />Day. During the 2-day event, all 3`d grade classes in the county came out to learn about <br />agriculture. It's an event KVEC really enjoys hosting each year and is put on by the Kittitas <br />County Conservation District. There was lots of great media coverage of the day. <br />Staff is hard underway on getting the grandstands cleaned and ready for the big 5-Header <br />Roping the first weekend in May along with Bares and Broncs later in the month. There will <br />be a large quilt show this weekend in the Expo Halls too and it's nice to have them back after <br />the pandemic shutdown. <br />4. Self -Promoted Events Business <br />* Fair Board Updates: Friends of the Fair would like to purchase stall mats for the <br />draft and light horse barns. They would like to see if there is a cost -share that the county <br />would like to participate in. After discussion, the BOCC would not support providing <br />additional funding toward the project and would like future project requests to be discussed <br />during the budget period. Kady stated that KVEC will provide the labor at no charge to at <br />least do the installation if Friends of the Fair completes the purchase of all materials and <br />equipment. <br />The Chamber of Commerce and Ellensburg Rodeo will be renting tour buses for $10,500 <br />per bus to shuttle from the hotels to the grounds. Fair also has an opportunity to rent a bus, it <br />is not budgeted for. Kady is proposing to the Fair Board to look at finding sponsor money to <br />help support this special effort. <br />2023-04-24 MINUTES <br />
