Each region develops projects to address their specific risks and hazards which sustainpreviously bullt capabilities or close identified gaps. Most initiatives can be tied back to UuiiOing regional capability to prevent,protect, respond, and recover and be in a state of readiness should a natural orhuman-caused catastrophic incident occur. <br />Gaps identifled in: -Community Resilience: Need to lncorporate equity and social justice and access and functional needs -critical <br />Transportation: Transportation needed for the delivery of vltat response personnel, equipment, and services into the affected areas-cybersecurityl Lack of a vulnerabitity analysis, outdated 5ervers and workstations -lnterdiction & Disruption; special teams do nothave access to updated equipment -lnfrastructure systems: Lack of proper network access to link to remote city/county facilities - <br />Mass Care Services: Lack of adequate mass care facilities, lack of local rnass care volunteers and training opportunitles -Mass SARoperations: Need to train responders to the Structural Collapse Tech level, lack of heavy liftins/shoriniand cuttinlbreaching <br />rescue equipment -On-Scene Security, Protection, & [Er Lack of local funding to maintain and replace aging and/or expiringequipment and PPE -operational comms: Geographical challenges and changes in communications techn;ogy hamper thereliability of communications -operational Coord: Lack of regional coordination to prloritize projects, connect partners, and shareproducts -Physical Protective Measures: Lack of surveillance cameras and alarm systems in local jurisdictions -planning: ESF plans <br />are out of date, lack of updated continuity plans -Public lnformation & Warning: Lack of robust public education campaigns, lack ofreliable and consistent messaging -screening, Search, & Detectton Lack of screening and monitoring equipment for large public <br />festivals and events within local jurisdictions -Situational Assessment: Lack of common operating picture and information sharing. <br />EN PROJECT *7: SHSP Reglon 7- Homeland Security project <br />Region 7 will address priorities based on regionally identified gaps. The region ls challenged by persistent capability gaps whichinclude Operational Communications due to aging equipment and infrastructure as well as changes in technology and the inabilityto keep pace; operational Coordination due to a lack of trained county personnel to fill EoC spe;fic positions and a need for €OCequlpment and for an alternate EOC; Mass Search & Rescue Operations due to the lack of a thermal-equipped unmanned aerialsystem (UAS) and additional training for UAS operators; critical Transportation due to the need for an appiopriate vehicle for thedelivery of vital response personnel, equipment, and services lnto affected areas; and lnterdiction & Disruption due to the need forequiprnent and training for Special Teams. <br />To address capability gaps and sustain current capabilities the reEion wlll be investing in planning organization, equipment, andtrainlng. Activities will include Operational Communications: Purchase communications equipment and connect local response <br />agencies on common command and control frequencies, operational Coordination: Sponsor and host training for EmergencyManagement staff, volunteers, and other county personnel and purchase equipment for soc and Eoc satellite operations.
