mail
Funding support for Evergreen Snow Park
Bob Seelye <robert.seelye@gmail.com> Wed, Mar 8, 2023 at 8:16 AM
To: Ira Astrachan <ira.astrachan@kprd1.org>, cory.wright@co.kittitas.wa.us, laura.osiadacz@co.kittitas.wa.us,
brett.wachsmith.co@co.kittitas.wa.us
Kittitas County Commissioners:
On the behalf of the Kittitas County Snowmobile Grooming Council, I urge all
involved to support additional funding for improvements to the Evergreen Snow
Park. This snow park was established on donated land over ten years ago and
has struggled without any funding source.
The Snow Park has seen increased usage as other parking near the top of the
Pass operates at full capacity. Evergreen is one of the very few Snow Parks that
allows winter recreation over a vast area that stretches all the way to the Kittitas
County borders near Highway 410. Users bring many tourism dollars into our
community with their support of local lodging, restaurants, fuel, etc.
Immediate needs to the Snow Park include a gate and engineering to prepare for
grading, rock and gravel. It is currently very muddy when temps are above
freezing. Our Grooming council fields many complaints of users getting their
vehicles stuck in the mud.
Thank you for your consideration. Our grooming council is committed to assist
with funding grants over this next coming season.
Respectfully,
Bob Seelye, Chairman
Kittitas County Snowmobile Grooming Council
