WATERSHED
SCIENCE & ENGINEERING February 1, 2023
County and stakeholders to support land use planning discussions. Project stakeholders will select a
preferred alternative for additional refinement (Task 2.4.)
Deliverables:
Figures comparing alternative flood extents and BFEs to baseline BFEs and flood extents.
Conceptual sketches of the proposed alternatives
Assumptions:
Project extents, available work area, and channel realignments for both alternatives will be determined
through coordination with the County and project stakeholders (Task 2.2). Initial grading for the
alternatives will be provided to WSE by the County as a LandXML for incorporation into the model terrain.
Presentation of results will take place via a virtual call that will last two hours.
Task 2.4. Preferred Alternative Refinement
WSE will refine the preferred alternative to maximize benefits and minimize impacts based on feedback
from stakeholders. WSE will run the model to simulate the 1% AEP flood and compare results to baseline
conditions to document changes in flood depth and floodplain storage. WSE will generate figures
comparing baseline and proposed condition BFEs, and inundated extents. Results will be presented to the
County and project stakeholders to support land use planning discussions.
Deliverables:
Figures comparing the preferred alternative BFEs and flood extents to baseline BFEs and flood extents
Assumptions:
The preferred alternative condition will be determined through coordination with stakeholders.
Presentation of results will take place via a virtual call that will last two hours.
Task 2.5. Technical Memorandum
WSE will prepare a technical memorandum to document study methods, assumptions, and results. The
memorandum will also include descriptions of additional floodplain development factors that will need to
be evaluated/considered if the stakeholder group decides to advance the preferred alternative ( e.g. a
FEMA conditional letter of map revision (CLOMR), compensatory storage requirements, floodplain impacts
that will need to be mitigated). The memorandum will be submitted to the County for review. WSE will
finalize the memorandum upon receipt of comments.
Deliverables:
Draft Memorandum
Final Memorandum
