According to the <br />WSDOT Geoportal Map. l-90 has anywhere from 40,000 to 80.000 vehicles on a <br />daily average traveling over Snoqualmie Pass. Coming from the west, visitors enter <br />Kittitas County at the top of Snoqualmie Pass and Easton is the first town in Eastern <br />Washington for visitors. Surrounded by State and Federal campgror.rnds. private <br />recreational lodging, Memorial Day weekend is one of busrest for overnight stays. <br />Only one hour from Seattle. day trips to hike, bike, fish, and multiple other <br />recreational experiences can be accessed at Easton. Those who are traveling from <br />the east, find that Easton is an easy location to travel to visit for a day, and celebrate <br />the three day weekend. The Memorial Day Celebration offers additional incentive for <br />visitors to stay overnight at one of the many campgrounds and private lodging <br />facilities offered close by. <br />2500 character lintt <br />Response 2.2*Desrj, ibe lhe prior sLrccess ot yosr eveIttactivilylf:cility itr atlractior] tourisls. <br />When the Easton Memorial Day Celebration began, thirty-one years ago in 1991, <br />the event was primarily local people having fun and gathering to hold a parade in <br />celebration of Memorial Day. lt provided an oppodunity for community members to <br />gather, enjoy each other and to remember those who fought for our Nation. As the <br />event became more popular, and more volunteers came on board to plan, the event <br />became a daylong celebration. The celebration increased from offering a parade to <br />adding a street fair, car show. motorcycle show and KidZone. <br />Seeing the opportuniiy to provide a unique event in a very small town, the committee <br />began to look for more ways to market and promote the celebration. With the help of <br />Kittitas CLTAC grant funds the commillee additional marketing options to help <br />spread the work aboui the Memorial Day Celebration. Using paid advertising, online <br />marketing, printed posters and flyers that were distributed widely, we saw out small <br />local event growing into a popular event which began drawing more and more <br />people 50 miles or farther away. ln 2019, we had our largest participation, 4,000 <br />people!
