Josh Fredrickson requested to set a public hearing and <br />anticipate adoption of the Transportation Plan on October 4, 2022. <br />The Board of County Commissioners requested a link to post to <br />Facebook, and support scheduling a Public Hearing. <br />USDA COMMUNITY WILDFIRE DEFENSE GRANT FOLLOW-UP DISCUSSION <br />Mark Cook briefed the Board of County Commissioners on the current <br />strategy to secure the USDA grant funding available. Mark Cook stated <br />that staff is working with Fire Officials and Emergency Management to <br />prepare the grant and is focused on identifying specific corridors <br />for improvement with the State plan for aligning with problem control <br />lines. Mark Cook continued that the grant would require a large match <br />fund and staff is looking into available assistance for those funds. <br />Discussion was held. The Board supports staff efforts toward securing <br />the necessary funding for grant match. <br />SURVEY DRONE PROCUREMENT REQUEST <br />Mark Cook requested the Board of County Commissioners support the <br />procurement of a drone for use by the Kittitas County Surveyor. Mark <br />Cook stated that the cost for the drone may be offset by the Flood <br />Control Zone District for the drone's Lidar capabilities and <br />traversing difficult terrain. Mark Cook requested Board support of an <br />RFP for procurement to be completed at upcoming Agenda Session. The <br />Board supports moving forward with drone acquisition. <br />DUNFORD BARN UPDATE <br />Mark Cook stated he is in discussion with the owner of the Historic <br />Dunford Barn on Hwy 97 about possible acquisition by Kittitas County <br />Public Works. Mark Cook added that should Kittitas County acquire the <br />barn by donation the vision is for public access to the area, <br />parking, and facilities. <br />VANTAGE HIGHWAY OVER CASCADE CANAL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT BID OPENING <br />Mark Cook updated the Board of County Commissioners on the bids <br />received for the bridge replacement on Vantage Highway over Cascade <br />Canal. Mark Cook stated that bids came in above estimate due to <br />inflation and rising material costs. The Board of County <br />Commissioners support awarding to the lowest bidder. <br />Meeting concluded at 2:41 pm. <br />2022-9-12 Minutes <br />
