construction of a new transfer station facility in Kittitas County. <br />1. The Solid Waste Management Plan was updated and finalized in July of 2020. <br />2. The site was selected through a rigorous public outreach campaign. The site was then rezoned and permitted to <br />accommodate the transfer facility campus in March of 2021. <br />3. Underground utilities and a new collector roadway were designed and constructed to the site with construction completion <br />achieved in November of 2021. <br /> <br />18. How will long term sustainability be achieved? <br />Long term sustainability options and associated implementation actions were summarized in Chapter 4. Waste Reduction, <br />Recycling, and Composting in the Solid Waste Management Plan which was finalized in July of 2020. <br />Specifically in relation to the new transfer station, in section 4.4.2.1 Composting Facility, the upgrade of composting <br />methodology is described to increase the speed of the composting process by using aerated static pile composting. <br />Kittitas County Solid Waste will be investigating feasibility of maximizing solar potential in relation to the new transfer station <br />campus with the design consultant once the design contract is awarded. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Administrative, Financial, and Planning: <br />19. During the last 3 years, describe three (3) distinct projects or activities for the system in which you are applying. <br />(i.e., Disaster Resiliency Plan, Emergency Plan, Rate Study, Income Survey, Annual Budgeting, etc.) <br />If you are unable to give three examples, please explain why: <br />1. Kittitas County Solid Waste completes annual budgeting, with the most recent review occurring in 2022. <br />2. In 2022 a rate study was also completed, with an adjustment forthcoming in November 2022. <br />3. On September 16, 2019. the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved the Kittitas County Multi- <br />Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. Through partnerships, reduce the vulnerability to natural hazards in order to protect the <br />health, safety, welfare and economy of the communities within Kittitas County. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />System Capital Improvements: <br />20. During the last 3 years, describe three (3) distinct capital projects or activities for the system in which you are <br />applying. (Project Specific Title, etc.) <br />If you are unable to give three examples, please explain why: <br />During the previous 3 years multiple projects have been accomplished to provide accommodation for the relocation and <br />construction of a new transfer station facility in Kittitas County. <br />1.
