APPENDIX II: PRELIMINARY AIRPORT ASSESSMENT
APPENDIX
General Aviation Active Aircraft
As with new General Aviation aircraft deliveries, the number of active General Aviation
aircraft hit a low in 1994 of 172,936. Since that time, the number of active aircraft
increased to a high of 231,607 in 2OO7. This increase was attributed to the growth of
experimental and turbine aircraft, the resurgence of new aircraft manufacturing (i.e., the
growth of new aircraft deliveries and the number of companies developing Supplemental
Type Certificate programs to modify and keep the aging aircraft fleet active). However,
since the peak in 2007 , active aircraft has dropped year after year. Over the last 5 years,
active aircraft increased 3.2o/o lo 215,329 or a compounded annual increase of 0.3%.
Figure 10 represents general aviation active aircraft through 2018.
Figure 10: General Aviation Active Aircraft
250,000
225.000
200.000
175.000
1 50 000
125 000
100.000
75.000
50.000
25 000
0
GARA Passage
Active General Aviation Aircraft
DotCom Bust of 1999
Recession of 2007-2009
(!
c
a
o
c)
-o
E
z
Econonrrc
Recovery of 201 0
tO (o r\ 6 O) O C{ ct V ul (O l- O O', O ('.l cq S rr) (o t- cOO)O]O)o-)(})OOOOC)OOOOOo) c'' o) o) (D o o c) (f o cf c) o o a) c) o o o a) o cr o o(\ al C\ (\l C\i Gl al C\ C.l C! aJ Oi (\ al C{ C{ C{ N oJ
Recession of2001
9/1 1/2001
-pi5lsn
,. - ,Turbojet
-Turboprop
-*{e{61
Airport Strategic Business Plan, 0712612021 61
