APPENDIX II: PRELIMINARY AIRPORT ASSESSMENT <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Having a thorough understanding of the Airport, Kittitas County (County), the City of <br />Ellensburg (City), the surrounding community, and the market that the Airport operates <br />within is an important first step in the strategic airport business planning process. <br />This Preliminary Airport and Market Assessment (Assessment) will examine these areas <br />from both a macro (industry) and micro (market) perspective; evaluate the competition; <br />explore market and customer segments; and identify demand and capacity for the <br />Airport's infrastructure and aviation products, services, and facilities, as follows: <br />amenities, and attributes; discusses the Airport's ownership, governance, and <br />management structure and powers; presents key Airport management and staff; <br />discusses the funding mechanisms of the Airport; presents community and industry <br />association participation of the Airport; identifies the Airport's primary planning, <br />management, and compliance documents; identifies unique characteristics of the <br />Airport; examines some key Airport statistics and trends; and identifies the Airport's <br />primary aeronautical and non-aeronautical tenants and the associated products, <br />services, and facilities. <br />national, state, and local leveland examines key market statistics and trends including <br />the number of FAA registered aircraft and licensed pilots in the United States, the state <br />of Washington, and the surrounding counties.
