Glossary <br />Definition of terms in the context in which they are used in this report. <br />1-h, 10-h, 100-h—Dead fuel size classes based on a relationship of the timelag from a <br />change in weather and a resulting change in fuel moisture. 1-h timelag fuels are less than <br />V4 inch diameter and respond quickly to changes in temperature and humidity. <br />BehavePlus—The BehavePlus fire modeling system produces tables, graphs, and simple <br />diagrams of fire behavior, fire effects, and the fire environment. It is a point -based sys- <br />tem; each individual calculation assumes constant conditions. (Appendix Q <br />BEHAVE—The BEHAVE fire behavior prediction and fuel modeling system consisted <br />of five computer programs and has been replaced by the BehavePlus fire modeling sys- <br />tem. (Preface) <br />Build number—Build number changes with each program update. The version number <br />stays the same for beta versions while the build number changes (Build 297). It is located <br />via Help > Installation Info. (Section 15.6) <br />Calculate—Menu item or icon that produces output pages for a BehavePlus run. <br />(Section 3) <br />Choices—A button at the bottom of the guide window for some continuous variables that <br />gives a list of selected input values. It is not an exhaustive list of all possible inputs. (Sec- <br />tion 6.4) <br />Context -sensitive Help—Located in the right-hand pane of many BehavePlus windows; <br />contains information related to the current variable, selection, or topic. (Section 15.3) <br />Continuous variable—Any value in a valid range can be assigned to a continuous vari- <br />able (for example, fuel moisture and wind speed). (Section 6) <br />Defaults—Selections that were made for the example worksheets that come with the pro- <br />gram (including ODefault.bpw). A user can develop an alternate set of defaults. (Section <br />3.3.2) <br />Discrete variable—Only specific values or codes can be assigned to discrete variables <br />(for example, fuel model and spotting source location). (Section 6) <br />FARSITE—A fire growth simulation system in which conditions change in both time <br />and space. (Appendix Q <br />Features paper—This publication is the Features paper. It describes many of the features <br />of BehavePlus. The focus is on operation, not fire modeling. <br />File extension—BehavePlus uses different file extensions for various file types: fuel <br />models as .bpf, worksheets as .bpw, runs as .bpr, etc. (Section 9.1) <br />USDA Forest Service Gen.
