13 Tools <br />The BehavePlus fire modeling system provides a numt)er of toots that are stand-alone <br />utilities, meaning they are not linked with any of the calculation modules. They are avail- <br />able via Tools on the main menu (Figure 65). <br />• line dead fuel moisture is a means of reading values from moisture tables, which <br />are in the Help window. Results can be exported in HTML format for documentation <br />(Section 8.5). <br />• Relative humidity provides a means for determining relative humidity from tables. <br />- Units converter is a quick way to make conversions between related units of mea- <br />sure (Section 5.5). <br />• Slope from map measurements calculates slope steepness in percent and degrees <br />from map measurements. Results can be exported in HTML format for documenta- <br />tion. The tool provides the same outputs as the SURFACE module when the input <br />option Slope steepness is calculated from map measurements is selected. <br />Slope vs horizontal map distance converts calculated map distances to horizontal <br />map distances. <br />- Sun -moon calendar allows you to generate sunrise, sunset, civil dawn and dusk, <br />moonrise, and moonset in table or calendar format. Calculated distances <br />can be converted to map distances, distance along the ground can be converted to a hori- <br />zontal map distance, and slope steepness can be calculated from map measurements. <br />14.9 Map distances <br />The Module Selection window includes a check box to Display output distances in <br />map units (Figure 1). This is a quick way to add map distance outputs from several mod- <br />ules with one click. Variables that are converted to map distances include surface spread <br />distance in SPREAD; crown spread distance in CROWN; spotting distance in SPOT; and <br />forward spread distance, backing spread distance, fire length, and maximum fire width in <br />SIZE. <br />USDA Forest Service Gen.
