11 Moisture Scenarios <br />A fuel moisture scenario is a set of fuel moisture values that represent moisture condi- <br />tions of surface fuel: 1-h, 10-h, 100-h, live herbaceous, and live woody fuel moisture. <br />Fuel moisture scenarios are analogous to fuel models—they package a number of val- <br />ues into a labeled set. The option of using moisture scenarios is available in SURFACE <br />Options... on the Fuel & Moisture tab (Figure 59). The moisture scenarios used by <br />Scott and Burgan (2005) to develop the set of 40 fuel models are provided with the pro- <br />gram. Moisture scenario D2LI, for example, represents low dead, fully cured herbaceous <br />fuel (1-h = 6%, 10-h = 7%, 100-h = 8%, live herbaceous = 30%, and live woody = 60%). <br />Similar to fuel models, a right -click on a moisture scenario code in the selection list gives <br />the option to View parameters. For example, you <br />might want to define moisture values for the 901 and 971 percentile fire weather conditions <br />for a prescribed fire site. To create a custom moisture scenario, use a BehavePlus work- <br />sheet that includes the SURFACE input option of Moisture is entered by individual size <br />class. You need only to fill in the fuel moisture values on the worksheet and then click <br />File > Save as a moisture scenario.
