When you clone a workspace or create a new one, the location is given for confirma-
tion and you have the option of making the new workspace your current workspace. To
change your current workspace, go to )rile > Workspaces a Open workspace and navi-
gate to the folder containing the workspace you wish to use. If you select a folder that is
not a workspace, you will get a number of error messages. Each time you restart the pro-
gram, BehavePlus will start with the default workspace—the one that was created when
the program was installed. Make sure you are using the correct workspace by checking
the bottom bar of the BehavePlus window (Figure 2).
14 Fuel Models
A fuel model is a set of numerical values that provides the tuel Inputs for Rothermel's
(1972) mathematical model used to predict surface fire spread. When a fuel model code
such as 10 or GS3 is specified, the appropriate set of fuel model parameters is defined for
the calculations. The 53 standard fuel models (Anderson 1982; Scott and Burgan 2005)
are available with BehavePlus, and you can create and use custom fuel models. While
fuel models are generally used in modeling surface fire behavior, BehavePlus also of-
fers the option of specifying two fuel models along with their percent cover as a way to
deal with horizontal fuel nonuniformity. As an alternative to using fuel model codes, fuel
parameters can be entered. There are also special case fuel models for palmetto-gallberry
and for western aspen, which include intermediate calculations to define the fuel input
parameters (Figure 59).
t=.rl aeaW, ww *-- j m— I-- [B -0-w-  w,aa ctwtpra,   o .a U, U.
