the BehavePlus window view does not change from page to page, repeated saves of the
PDF file move from page to page, starting with the first. Following are the steps to save
all pages in a PDF document in Adobe® Acrobat:
• File > Print > Adobe PDF > Print
• Save in: (create a folder for the document)
• File name: (change the default BehavePlus5.pdf to p1) > Save
• File name: (change the default BehavePlus5.pdf to p2) > Save
• (Repeat for all pages)
• When all pages are saved, the Print window closes. If you wish to save fewer pages,
click Cancel multiple times to close the print window.
• Open pl.pdf
• Document > Insert Pages > From File
Highlight p2.pdf through the last page > Select
* Location: > After > Last > OK
• File > Save as > (name your document)
• Delete intermediate files and folder.
8.3 Save as Image
BehavePlus includes the option of saving each page as an image with File > Save as an
image. A file is created for the currently viewed page in BMP, JPG, or PNG format (BMP
files may be very large). Each page has to be captured separately. The saved file can then
be inserted into a document and cropped as in the method described below.
8.4 Capture, Insert, and Crop
The BehavePlus Save as an image option is awkward and limited. We therefore recom-
mend alternate methods. Commercial software can easily be used to capture portions of
input and output for reports and publications. (We used FulIShot® for the figures in this
paper, although there are a number of commercial and freeware products available.)
Following is a capture method that is commonly available on Windows" -based computers.
• Open a Microsoft® Word document.
• Click on the BehavePlus screen to make it the active screen.
• Simultaneously press the two keys Alt and PrintScrn to capture only the Behave -
Plus window. (PrintScrn alone captures the entire computer screen.)
• Click on the Word document where you want the image.
• Simultaneously press Ctrl and the letter v (Ctrl -v), use File > Paste (Word 2000 or
2003), or use Paste on the Home > Clipboard Task Pane (Word 2007) to insert the
window into the open Word document.
Click on the inserted BehavePlus image in the Word document.
• To use the crop feature in Word 2000 or 2003, make sure the Picture Toolbar is
available. If it is not, click on View > Toolbars > Picture. In Word 2007, the crop
tool is found under the Picture Tools > Format tab.
• Crop the image to the desired portion by clicking on the image, using the Word crop
feature, and dragging the cursor to the appropriate location.
USDA Forest Service Gen.
