Based on 2018
attendance, we estimate that 80% of event attendees will be considered tourists
(*400 people) and that 30% of them will be from another state or out of Country
(-'120 people).
The 2019 event was cancelled due to a conflict with another birding event and the
2021 and 2022 events were cancelled due to covid.
Pre-registration will be required for events. lectures, and field trips. We can
track attendee information this way through our online licket sales.
ln addition, Yakima River Canyon Bird Fest headquarters will be located ai Helen
McCabe Park and everyone altending the evenl will be required to check in,
receive their event materials. and in this way. we will be able to track attendees'
destinaiions and overnight stay statistics.
We will conduci an in-person survey in 2022 in order to increase survey
responses and get direct overnight stay data. We have found that our online
surveys are not well-responded to (we believe thai this is due to the older age of
our event attendees).
We are constantly refining our advertising methods. Our partnership with Living
Bird Magazine will begin earlier, and add print to their digital presence. They will
at the conclusion of the publishing/financial cycle, provide the data which will
demonstrate iheir effectiveness.
Birders plan their travel calendars to engage in as many birding opportunities as
they can, and this fesiival in May is the best time to see colorful, diverse and rare
bird species in the Canyon.
2500 characte. linrit
3l lmpact
