KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: March 1, 2022 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Chair's <br />signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus <br />for the North Thorp Highway -Yakima River Bridge CRP 302- <br />20. <br />BACKGROUND: On December 30, 2019, Kittitas County Public Works was <br />advised by Washington State Department of Transportation <br />(WSDOT) that the North Thorp Highway -Yakima River Bridge <br />Project was selected to receive funding through the Local Bridge <br />Program. <br />This project requires a 13.5 (13.5%) percent match in local funds <br />for the Construction phase if it is not obligated for construction <br />by December 2022. This project will be eligible for one hundred <br />percent (100%) federal funding for eligible costs if it is obligated <br />ahead of the December 2022 deadline. <br />The Board approved contract award to KPFF, Inc. for design and <br />environmental permitting May 4, 2021. The design and <br />environmental permitting are nearing completion. <br />This Project Prospectus covers the Federal Funding for the <br />construction phase and requires approval by WSDOT Local <br />Programs prior to solicitation for bids. <br />Public Works is preparing to solicit for construction in Spring <br />2022. This requires the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus to be signed and approved by the Chair of the BOCC <br />prior to submitting to WSDOT for approval. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's signature on the <br />Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the North <br />Thorp Highway -Yakima River Bridge CRP 302-20. <br />HANDLING: Return two (2) originals to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark Cook, Director <br />
