The ongoing challenges of COVID 19 have continued to impact our events and activities. However, our Board of Directors and commitiee members have been creative in addressing these impacts. We have implemented a planning format that allows for activities and events to flow through town. By moving from businesses to businesses. pocket park to pocket park, this allowed us to safely offer activiiies. Our activities this past yearwere held. but in many cases nrodified to meet safety requirements for COVID, For Pioneer Days 2A21, due to crowd concerns. we did not offer a full menu of activities in downtown Cle Elum. Our vendor market and Kid Zone were not offered, and the 3 on 3 basketball tournament was canceled. However, our association continued to bring Pioneer Days parlners together to identify activitres that were going to be held and to encourage a "flow" of activilies throughout Cle Elum. Roslyn Ronald. and Suncadia Resort. We also worked with businesses like Dru Bru to develop outdoor games for families. As a result. we were able to identify a full menu of offerings that were then advertised locally. online, and through the effor1s of all partners. We had a very successful. safe. and fun Pioneer Days weeketrd. We successfully introduced a Moiher's Day Market with pop-ups in retail. foocl. and beverage locations. Vendors were placed on the sidewalk and people were encouraged to shop and explore downtown during that weekend. Another successful venture that we were able io safely hold was the new Cle Elum Public Market downtown. Working with the Kittitas County Health Departrnent we were able to develop a safe layout to space vendors and a safe foot rouie for market visitors. Boo-Elum, our fall signature event. was noi helci as a "Trunk or Treat" event like normal on First Street. We adapted and had a "Boo Cruize" where our trr.rnk or treaters drove through neighborhoods bringing treats to them. For 2021, we are planning four different ways to hold this event and watching COVID numbers to determine how it will take place. We are plannlng two safe events. a Scarecrow Contest and a Pumpkin Path, to offer the opportunity for famiiles businesses, and visitors to enjoy Halloween.
