2. At the time of amendment adoption designating habitat for species of local importance, <br />the county shall also adopt performance standards based upon recommendations from <br />county residents and appropriate government agencies. (Ord. 94-22 (part), 1994). <br />17A.07.030 Species of local importance. <br />1. These species may be identified from time to time, resulting in amendment of this <br />chapter. Residents of the county may from time to time identify and nominate for <br />consideration such species, and shall have the burden of presenting evidence <br />concerning the criteria set forth below. The nomination shall be forwarded by the <br />planning department for consideration to the Kittitas County planning commission, <br />which shall make a recommendation to the Kittitas County board of commissioners. <br /> The nomination and the decision shall consider: <br />a. Concern due to population status; or <br />b. Sensitivity to habitat manipulation. <br />2. (Ord. 9422 (part), 1994). <br /> <br /> <br />Chapter 17A.08 <br />AQUIFER RECHARGE AREAS <br />Sections <br />17A.08.010 Designation of aquifer recharge areas. <br />17A.08.015 Hazardous materials. <br />17A.08.020 On-site sewage disposal regulations. <br />17A.08.025 Wellhead protection areas. <br />17A.08.010 Designation of aquifer recharge areas. <br />No critical aquifer recharge locations have been identified in Kittitas County. If highly vulnerable <br />recharge areas are identified, studies will be initiated to determine if ground water contamination <br />has occurred. Future classification of these areas will include consideration of the degree to which <br />the aquifer is used as a potable water source, feasibility of protective measures to preclude further <br />degradation, availability of treatment measures to maintain potability, and availability of alternative <br />potable water sources. <br />Current county regulations are incorporated by reference and will adequately protect aquifer <br />recharge areas until such time as additional information indicates the need for further studies. (Ord. <br />94-22 (part), 1994). <br />17A.08.015 Hazardous materials. <br />Proposals falling under the provisions of Section 17A.03.015 and which deal with hazardous materials <br />which may contaminate ground or surface water shall comply with all applicable federal and state <br />laws and regulations, and shall demonstrate said compliance to the planning director. To the extent <br />such proposals are not otherwise regulated under state and federal law, the applicant shall submit a
